If you're curious about how Apple Intelligence works on iPhone, iOS 18.1 provides transparency with the new Apple Intelligence Report feature. Here's how to generate your own report.
Built into iOS 18, Apple Intelligence can create language and images, perform actions across apps, and extract information from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks by using large language models on the device. With private cloud computing, Apple can deliver privacy-based AI with the ability to flex and scale computing power between on-device processing and larger server-based models running on dedicated Apple silicon servers.
When you make a request on your iPhone, Apple Intelligence analyzes whether the request can be processed on the device. For more complex requests, it can leverage private cloud computing. Only data relevant to your request will be processed on Apple's servers and then deleted. When a request is routed to a private cloud, your data is not stored or accessible to Apple and is used only to fulfill the request.
You can generate a report on your iPhone that records the requests your device sent to the private cloud over the past 15 minutes or 7 days. The following steps show you how.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap the Apple Intelligence Reports menu near the bottom.
- Select report duration: 15 minutes, 7 days, or off.
- Click Export Activity.
You can use any text editor or reader application to open and view the file. haveFor more information about Apple Intelligence, be sure to check out our dedicated guide.
