How to fix an AirPod not working

Apple's AirPods are designed to work seamlessly with all Apple Bluetooth-enabled devices, and wireless earbuds are generally good value for money, but that doesn't mean they'll work for everyone 100 percent of the time.

A particularly annoying problem that sometimes occurs with any model of AirPods is that one AirPod intermittently disconnects or stops working entirely for no apparent reason. If you encounter this error, following the steps below should help you resolve the issue.

1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap your name AirPods, located below your Apple ID banner. Alternatively, tap Bluetooth, then tap the "i" icon next to AirPods in the list.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and click "Forget this device."
   

   

   
   

4. Make sure both AirPods are in the charging case, the charging case is closed, and the charging case is charged.
5. Find the small button on the back of the charging box, near the bottom. It's flush with the case and the same color, so you may want to touch it. If you have AirPods 4, Apple has moved the capacitive button to the front of the charging case, hiding it beneath the status light.
   

   

   
   
6. Open the charging box cover.
7. For AirPods 4 (both models), double-click the front of the charging case until the status light flashes white. For all other AirPods models, press and hold the button for at least 15 seconds. If you are using a 1st generation or non-wireless 2nd/3rd generation AirPods charging case, the light inside the case between the AirPods will flash white and then amber to indicate that the AirPods have been reset. If you have AirPods Pro orAirPods 4 wireless charging case, you can find this indicator light on the front of the charging case.
8. Now, close the lid of the AirPods charging case and open it again.
   

   

   
   
9. Place the AirPods charging case with the lid open next to your iPhone or iPad. Your iOS device should recognize the AirPods and you'll see a popup to connect them.

If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try resetting your iPhone's network settings. From the Settings app's main menu, select General ➝ Reset ➝ Reset network settings, then repeat the steps above to try pairing your AirPods again.
